Not everyone can read and succeed with traditional music, and that’s okay! Some people have challenges that require adaptation, others simply did not have early positive learning experiences and think, “I just can’t do this.” Here at Occupational Octaves™, we are piano dream creators and revivers! Bring an open mind and some basic skills and you’ll be playing in no time! If mastering the challenging music towards the end of the book series, move on to The Stockner Method™ to continue the journey with traditional music notes!
Our Story
Inspired Beginnings: Lee Stockner’s journey into music education began with a simple yet profound idea – to make music accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities. As a passionate musician and dedicated educator, Lee noticed that traditional music teaching methods often left out individuals with disabilities and special needs. Determined to bridge this gap, he set out to create a revolutionary teaching method that would open the doors of music to all.
The Birth of Occupational Octaves Piano: Through years of research, experimentation, and collaboration with therapists and educators, Lee developed the Occupational Octaves Piano method. This innovative approach uses color-coded notes and simplified structures to make learning the piano intuitive and enjoyable. The method quickly gained recognition for its effectiveness and inclusivity, transforming the way music is taught and experienced.
A Growing Community: What started as a personal mission soon blossomed into a vibrant community of learners, educators, and families. Occupational Octaves Piano has touched countless lives, helping students of all abilities discover the joy of music. Today, the method is used in classrooms, therapy sessions, and private lessons around the world, continuing to inspire and empower individuals through the transformative power of music.
